I have often pontificated that english is an evolving language, much to many an english teacher’s chagrin. But this article put me back when I read it.
It is just that the language that they propose is so….. inelegant. Talking like a caveman would be fun for a bit, but what would it do to our collective psyches? What would this do to poetry? Or music?
Add to this my innate hatred of cell phones and you will understand my stance. And while I use an IM client quite frequently, I am starting to think that I will spend more time now and actually write all the words out.

The newest language for mobile text messaging looks like hieroglyphics and sounds like a caveman. The language is Zlango, and its creators aim to inject whimsy and emotion into text messaging while reducing the number of keystrokes needed to get the point across.
“SMS is the driest of all forms of communication,” Zlango founder and Chief Executive Officer Yoav Lorch told UPI. “SMS,” short for “short messaging service,” is how much of the rest of the world refers to text messaging.
