the genesis of a moment (a.k.a. this is how i actually behave)

do we all imagine an audience? i know i do

the clock had ticked over, it had become saturday, many moments had died in the pursuit of what could be considered a trivial thing

Rock and Roll by the Velvet Underground (it’s off Loaded) is one of those songs that i’ve loved for a long, that line, ‘you know her life was saved by rock and roll’ is absolutely delicious

anyone who could explain any of the following is encouraged to get in touch with me;

a) why this particular friday was the one where i decided i should know how to play ‘Rock and Roll’ on the guitar

b) why after starting to get a grip on the beast we decided that the little camera atop the laptop should be treated to a version of the nonsense as rendered upon partially-out-of-tune electric-guitar that is not plugged in, as i stumble through a shaky rendition

c) why i decided to post it to the internet

Actually, I think I might be able to explain c). Sadly it will require another ordered list. That list would be as follows.

a) Working out how to play a song on guitar whilst singing it is one of my favorite mental exercises.

b) As evidenced by the very start of the video (which will be following along here shortly, humor me for a moment and keep reading before we get to the point where we can all laugh at me), the concept of ‘immortality,’ if you will was suddenly intriguing to me.

c) As evidenced by the entirety of the video (which will be following shortly, humor me and viddy the goddamn text) it all starts out overly self-conscious, but right around the one minute mark, the attention gets shifted.

Yes, I wind up singing to one of my cats. Enjoy!

Uh, yeah, it’s all true.

I am indeed a strange individual. I’m playing the unplugged out-of-tune electric because I do not own my own home and cannot make as much noise as I would wish as the person who recently moved into the nearest shade of proximity has already called the cops on me.

This is me perhaps an hour into working out how Rock and Roll goes. I honestly posted it only because I suddenly started singing to one of my new kittens, Mayhem, and forgot that the camera was there, and when it was all said and done, I viddied the nonsense and concluded that it’s about as honest as i’ve bothered to be in a long, long time.

yep. most of that was sung to a cat.

peace
