keys.jpgThe first time I heard that locks only keep honest people honest a warm glow of truth flowed through my body. That was a truism that I saw as quite profound.

To illustrate the point you should watch this video.

If you find it interesting you could also read this article (pdf) on the same topic. It is called key bumping.

The true cost of terrorism

Monday, August 7th, 2006

The CATO institute has put together a great article on terrorism and how our government has terribly bungled its reaction to terrorist attacks. Remember folks, don’t live in fear or they have won already…

Determining how to respond to the terrorist challenge has become a major public policy issue in the United States over the last three years. It has been discussed endlessly, many lives have been changed, a couple of wars have been waged, and huge sums of money have been spent — often after little contemplation — to deal with the problem.

The department of disinformation. Always consider the source. Follow the money. Blah blah blah.

from the article:

Where did that video spoofing Gore’s film come from?

The anti-Gore video represents a less well-known side of YouTube. As its popularity has exploded, the public video-sharing site has drawn marketers looking to build buzz for new music releases and summer blockbusters. On the outer rim, dozens of amateurs sit pondering their replies until he completes the circuit. The year is 1909, the man is José Raúl Capablanca of Cuba, and the result is a whitewash: 28 wins in as many games. The exhibition was part of a tour in which Capablanca won 168 games in a row.

Between the Bridge and the River
Title: Between the Bridge and the River
Author: Craig Ferguson
LC Rating: Rating: 4

I had some significant doubts before entering in this book, after all Craig Ferguson is a minor celebrity, apparently the host of the Late Late Show; never watched it. The truth is that I was in a bit of a hurry at the library, and the inside cover caught my interest to the point where I figured I’d give it a chance; I’m very glad that I did.

nugget Ok, so my da sent me a link to an article where some folks found that gold might just be precipitated out of a fluid environment by bacteria. They call it secondary gold grains. I am assuming that there is a layer on the gold which they consider “primary” which is covered by a layer that seems different. Haven’t seen the particulars on this as they weren’t in the short article…
